If you're shooting rabbits, we need your help collecting blood samples
PHBG doesn't charge for its events. Whether you're a seasoned farmer or the proud new owner of a lifestyle block, come along for updates and control information on the pests in your patch.
We are collecting blood samples from rabbits all over Peel-Harvey to test the extent of calicivirus resistance.
Last year, we found that two-thirds of our local rabbits may be resistant to calicivirus. Calicivirus is a biological control method frequently used against rabbits. If the majority of rabbits are immune, calicivirus must be deployed very strategically to be effective.
You can help calicivirus releases be more effective. Grab one of our shooter's packs, which has everything you need to collect blood samples in the field. For more information, download the flyer or the instruction sheet (below), and email feralanimals@phbg.org to get your shooter's pack.
